California Coastal Redwoods

(2 hrs 47 min / 136 miles - EACH WAY).    Coast redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) have inspired human beings since the dawn of time. Celebrated the world over, the mystique of these ancient forests will draw you in. A local's favorite is Lady Bird Johnson Grove which rests near the top of a ridge in Redwood National Park, more than 1,000 feet from sea level. The moist conditions and the extra rain brought by the elevation causes the redwoods in this grove to look less red than trees of that sort found elsewhere on the North Coast.
